Kate Moss immortalised in gold
August 28th, 2008 - 11:36 pm ICT by IANSNew York, Aug 28 (IANS) A solid gold statue of supermodel Kate Moss is to go on display at the British Museum in October this year. The sculpture, crafted by artist Marc Quinn, has been valued at $2.8 million, reports contactmusic.com.
Quinn says he chose Moss because she was the closest model to human perfection he could find.
“I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who is the ideal beauty at the moment. But even Kate Moss does not live up to the image,” Quinn said.
Tipping the scales at 50 kg (110 pounds), it is believed to be the largest gold statue built since the time of ancient Egypt.
