Kashmiris feeling alienated under Omar: Mufti
January 9th, 2012 - 12:33 am ICT by IANSJammu, Jan 8 (IANS) The only contribution of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s government has been to fuel the people’s sense of alienation, opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said Sunday. In his first comments after the Omar Abdullah government completed three years in office Dec 5, Mufti Sayeed said: “Governance and trust deficit is the main reason of fuelling alienation of the people.”
The former chief minister claimed that people lived in peace and security during the PDP-Congress rule from 2002 to 2008.
Addressing a public meeting in Jammu’s main suburb Chatha, he said: “With just 16 MLAs in its kitty, PDP has not only changed political discourse of the state but also restored dignity and honour of the people of state by pursuing pro-peace agenda.”
He said the present regime had “failed to connect with the common masses”.
