Srinagar, Feb 14 (IANS) Activists of Kashmiri women’s separatist group Dukhtaran-e-Millat (Daughters of the Faith) raided some restaurants here Saturday to foil Valentine’s Day celebrations, saying it was un-Islamic.

The group’s chief, Asiya Andrabi, headed a small group of her activists who visited some hotels and restaurants in the city centre Lal Chowk area.

“We did not find anybody observing the vulgar and immoral celebrations connected with the so-called Valentine’s Day here,” Asiya told reporters.

The group has been spearheading a campaign against Valentine’s Day celebrations claiming them to be un-Islamic and immoral.

The group’s activists claimed they had destroyed greeting cards seized from a stationery shop in the city.
