Kashmiri student out of danger (Lead)

Bhopal, Jan 22 (IANS) A Kashmiri student who was shot at Saturday in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh is out of danger in a Indore hospital, police said Sunday.

Shabbir Ahmed, a student of M.Phil of Vikram University, was shot at by two unknown assailants when he was walking on the road.

After initial treatment, he was referred to Indore.

“He is now out of danger and under treatment in M.Y. Hospital,” officer in-charge of Madhav Nagar police station K.K. Upadhyay told IANS.

Ahmed had recently shifted to Ujjain, and had done his post graduation studies from Bhopal.

However, police have yet to catch the attackers.

“He had recently shifted to Ujjain and it is taking time to know the reason for the attack,” Upadhyay added.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sunday spoke to his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the matter.

“Spoke to the CM of MP regarding Ujjain shooting of Kashmiri youth. He has assured guilty will be punished and other Kashmiri boys’ safety also,” Abdullah posted on Twitter.
