Kashmir Congress chief meets governor
December 24th, 2011 - 11:03 pm ICT by IANSJammu, Dec 24 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir’s Congress unit president Saif-ud-Din Soz Saturday met Governor N.N. Vohra here and discussed the problems faced by the people in the state, sources said.
Soz, currently on a visit to the Jammu region, told the governor that the empowerment of panchayats was imperative for an efficient governance system, party sources said.
He is reported to have told the governor that absence of adequate powers to the village heads, elected in the panchayat elections held early this year, was affecting the functioning of the village councils.
