Kasab’s DNA matches imprints on MV Kuber, probe shows
February 5th, 2009 - 9:03 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Feb 5 (IANS) The DNA of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist captured during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, has matched with the samples found on the boat used by the terrorists to reach Indian shores, Maharashtra Home Minister Jayant Patil said Thursday.Patil said all tests carried out to match the DNA samples of Kasab with the samples found in the hijacked boat MV Kuber have turned out positive.
Ten terrorists had used the Kuber to come to Mumbai on Nov 26 from Karachi.
Kasab reportedly told interrogators that his team moved from a Pakistani trawler Al Hussaini to Kuber, which they had hijacked and travelled on board about 553 nautical miles to reach Mumbai. The team abandoned Kuber about five nautical miles from Mumbai and covered the remaining distance on a rubber raft.
The latest findings will further boost India’s claims that the terrorists had indeed used the Karachi-Pakistan link to come to Mumbai.
