Kapur misses cut yet again in Australian golf

Coolum (Australia), Dec 5 (IANS) Indian golfer Shiv Kapur dropped two late bogeys on the back nine and exited early as he once again struggled with his form at the Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship here Friday.This was the second successive missed cut for Kapur, who last week missed the halfway cut-off at the Australian Masters.

Kapur, who has missed almost a dozen cuts this season by one and two shots, was one-over in the first round. In the second round, he had three birdies and two bogeys on front nine to be one-under for the day with nine to play and he was even for the tournament. On the back nine, he dropped a bogey on 12th, but picked a birdie on 13th only to drop further bogeys on 14th and 15th and finish the day at 73 and a total of two-over 146 and crashed out.

Though there are 18 players more to finish, the cut is likely to at either even par or one-over. There are 69 players at one-under and another eight at one-over. Kapur at two-over 146 is tied for 78th.

Victorian Jarrod Lyle’s course record-equalling 63 saw him take a share of the lead with Tasmanian Mathew Goggin (68).
