Kanwaria electrocuted to death in Ghaziabad
August 3rd, 2010 - 9:51 pm ICT by IANSGhaziabad, Aug 3 (IANS) A Kanwaria was electrocuted to death Tuesday morning in Muradnagar town of Ghaziabad district when he touched a wire fence in an agricultural field where he had gone to relieve himself, police said.
Kanwarias, orange-robed devotees of Lord Shiva, collect holy water of river Ganga in Haridwar in pots and walk back to their respective home towns during the month of Shravan (monsoon).
The victim, identified as Kailash, was travelling with his entire family and had come from Rajasthan for the pilgrimage.
“They had started their foot journey from Haridwar July 30 and were staying in a camp near ITS Dental College in Muradnagar. They were returning to Rajasthan,” said Superintendent of Police (Rural) M.M. Beg.
