August 30th, 2008 - 9:55 pm ICT by IANS ( 8 comments )Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 30 (IANS) The weekly programme “Kannadi”, telecast on Asianet TV channel and into its 15th year of transmission, has now touched 701 episodes. The programme that highlights the woes of the people from all across the state has helped hundreds with financial aid that it received from its viewers.
“This programme was the first one in our channel when it was launched almost 15 years ago and by now we have extended financial help to the tune of Rs.25 million to those whose lives were shown on the programme,” said veteran journalist T.N. Gopakumar who scripts and produces the programme.
A good portion of this financial help has come from viewers settled abroad.
“The responses to the stories have been tremendous and these days every week we get a minimum of Rs.200,000 and it is handed over to the needy whose woes have been aired,” added Gopakumar.
Chief Editor of Asianet TV K.P. Mohanan told reporters here that it was a unique record in the history of Indian TV where a single news programme anchored by one person has touched 701 episodes.

I am shocked to hear the unfortunate incident regarding cain punishment in a catholic school.
I am a specialist mathematician, training teachers all over the world.
I can give useful suggestions concerning effective mathematics teaching in the modern world. Please furnish me contact details of the principal of the concerned school so that I would be able to assist them for a successful and effective training to the teachers.
Moreover, it is surprised to hear that the teacher has been transferred to another school where such incidents may occur in future.
Hope asianet would give me a response
thanks

Sir,
I have watched the program that the wild eliphant was killed by farmers.
I am an amateur environmentalist and fighting against over population. This is a cruelty. We trapping and killing the wild animals accusing those entering villages and attacking or distroying farm…!!! We, due to over population migrating towards the fforest and sidturbing the peaceful life of the wild…!!! asianet and Kannady might discurage the high land settlers not to occupying more lands in the forest. If there is no forest, there will be No human existance….
thanks and regards
