New Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS) Hunt for Haryana’s ex-minister Gopal Kanda, charged with driving former air hostess Geetika Sharma to suicide, continued Friday even as her autopsy report confirmed there was no foul play and she died due to hanging.

The report of the post-mortem examination, conducted by a team of three doctors, was handed over to Delhi Police Friday and fixed the time of suicide as early Sunday.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police continued searches at all possible hideouts of Kanda and also reached Goa to look for him.

Sources said that Kanda owns a casino in Goa and used to spend most of his time there.

“The HR manager of MDLR group, Aruna Chaddha, is in our custody and told us about his hideouts in Goa. A team reached there Friday and is searching for him,” said a senior Delhi Police officer, who did not want to be named.

A team has also sent to Siliguri in West Bengal as Kanda’s in-laws live there.

“Several teams are working on the case and we are trying to trace his movements through his call details,” the officer added.

Police have also scanned the call details of Chaddha and found that she was in constant touch with Kanda.

Delhi Police are also planning to take her to Gurgaon, Sirsa and Faridabad to conduct raids at Kanda’s possible hideouts.

“Chaddha is not cooperating in the investigation and we need to confront her with the main accused, Kanda. We also need her to conduct raids at possible hideouts of Kanda as she is well aware of MDLR’s office. She would also help us in gathering evidence,” said the officer.

A colleague of Sharma, whom police are treating as witness, is providing crucial details on relation between Kanda and Geetika.

“Kanda had put a chair in Geetika’s cabin and used to sit there most of the time,” he told police.

On Thursday, Kanda’s anticipatory bail plea was dismissed by a sessions court and a look-out notice was issued Thursday by Delhi Police against him.

A senior police official said all airports have also been alerted to ensure that Kanda does not fly out of the country.

Charges of criminal intimidation were Tuesday slapped on Kanda and he was summoned for questioning over the death of his former employee Geetika, whose body was found hanging at her house in Delhi’s Ashok Vihar Aug 5. She had named Kanda and Chaddha in her suicide note for harassing her.

According to Geetika’s brother, Gaurav, his sister was being mentally harassed by Kanda and Chaddha.

Kanda was the owner of the now defunct MDLR Airlines where Geetika worked as a flight attendant. After the airlines ceased to function in 2009, she was given a position in another company owned by Kanda.
