New Delhi, Aug 5 (IANS) Sacked Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi Friday asked a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court to direct the Tihar jail and hospital authorities not to disclose his medical reports to media.

Kalmadi, 66, moved the application through his lawyer before the court of Special CBI Judge Talwant Singh.

He sought the court’s directions to the Tihar Jail superintendent, medical superintendent of LNJP hospital and the director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), not to disclose any information relating to his medical reports to media “whether electronic or print”.

The court directed the authorities to comply with the request. But in a light-hearted comment, the judge asked the accused as as to why was he seeking such directions when he himself speaks to media about his medical examination.

The Tihar Jail superintendent Friday submitted the medical records, including the interim report of Kalmadi, to the court.

Swiss Timing, listed as co-accused in the CWG scam, also filed a copy of comprehensive guidelines which mentioned how a notice on a foreign company is served through the ministry of home affairs.

Taking a note of the guidelines, the court directed the concerned authorities to issue fresh summons in accordance with the guidelines mentioned by Swiss Timing and said a reply be sought till Nov 4.

“Copy of summons (should) be given to CBI with directions to get the same translated in German language and to obtain a certificate of authenticity from the translator,” the court order said.

The CBI too filed an application before the court, seeking its permission for placing additional documents and list of witnesses. The court accepted the application and gave the accused last opportunity to file a reply.

However, the court denied CBI’s plea to issue fresh arrest warrants against three absconding private firm promoters - A.K. Madan, Purshottam Arya and A.K. Reddy.

The court also extended the judicial custody of Kalmadi and the other accused till Aug 11.

Kalmadi was arrested April 25. The CBI May 20 filed its first charge sheet in the corruption case against Kalmadi and 10 others.

The probe agency described Kalmadi as the prime accused in a case related to financial irregularities in awarding a Rs.141 crore contract for timing, scoring and result system for the October 2010 sporting event.

Meanwhile, Beenu Nanu — chief of Meroform Indian and GL Events and accused of allegedly conspiring to bribe CWG officials to get the logistics contract — also moved an application in a different court seeking permission to visit Australia to attend his son’s convocation ceremony.

Nanu filed the application before the court of Special CBI Judge Sanjeev Jain, stating that his son was graduating in Mechanical Engineering from Melbourne University Aug 15 and he wanted to go there when he is awarded the degree.

Nanu, arrested Jan 17, is on bail by the high court after the probe agency failed to file a charge sheet in the case.
