Houston, Oct. 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The attorney, John O’Quinn, lost his life in a vehicle accident, that occurred on Thursday near downtown Houston. 68 year old John was driving a Chevvy, in a slight drizzle when he lost control and the car skidded and hit a tree killing, John and his P.A., Johny Cutliff, who was a 56 year old Houston resident. They were both declared dead on the spot itself. The police blame the weather and the wet roads for the accident. “It’s a very preliminary investigation. It will take some time to figure out exactly what happened.” said, Lt. L.J.Satterwhite.
The attorney was famous because of the cases he fought against the makers of breast implants, making claims that it had dangerous side effects. Also, he was one of the premier lawyers in the case between Texas and the tobacco industry. John had also faced a prosecution charge, when he was found sleeping in the court [which was held as being in contempt of the court].
John was known to spend billions of money lavishly, which he made in these tobacco and breast implant cases, on himself since he was neither married nor had any kids. He was educated at University of Houston law school (1960s). The president of the University Renu Khator, said, “He worked tirelessly on behalf of this university and was one of its most generous financial contributors.” Khator, who is also the chancellor of the university, added that, “A good deal of thus schools success can be credited to John’s unflagging commitment to making UH a better institution”.
