Job racket busted, minor rescued
December 19th, 2010 - 8:04 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 19 (IANS) A woman running an employment agency which provided minors as domestic helps has been arrested and a 10-year-old girl rescued, police said Sunday. Police received information Saturday that a placement agency located in Pahar Ganj area of central Delhi was involved in the illegal activity.
“A search operation was launched in association with NGO Child Helpline and the girl, employed as a domestic help in a house in Noida, was rescued. She was being paid Rs. 1,000 per month,” said a police official.
According to the police, the owner of the placement agency Rekha was arrested whereas the girl’s employer Sarita Taneja is absconding.
