Jharkhand official arrested taking bribe
April 1st, 2010 - 6:50 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, April 1 (IANS) A block development official in Jharkhand’s Jamtara district was Thursday arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe, an official said.
“Shivaji Bhagat, a BDO of Nala block of Jamtara district, was arrested red-handed while accepting Rs.30,000 cash. He has been sent to jail,” a state vigilance bureau official told IANS.
He said the bureau was keeping watch on Bhagat for the last few days after receiving a complaint against him.
The BDO is an administrative official responsible for development work at the block level and the funds for development of villages are routed through them.
