Jharkhand goes after top Maoist
November 25th, 2011 - 3:20 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Nov 25 (IANS) Security forces in Jharkhand have stepped up efforts to trap another Maoist leader, Kundan Pahana, who has become synonymous with terror in the last three years.
“This is right time to redefine our strategy to wipe out the Maoists in the border areas,” Inspector General of Police S.N. Pradhan told IANS, a day after security forces shot dead Maoist veteran Kishenji in adjoining West Bengal.
Pahana is accused of killing former minister Ramesh Singh Munda in 2008 and looting Rs.5.5 crore in the same year.
He also allegedly beheaded Francis Induwar, an intelligence operative in 2009. He and his men have killed more than 35 security personnel on the Ranchi and Jamshedpur highways.
Security forces have also stepped up security in areas bordering West Bengal fearing violence following the killing of Kishneji.
