May 8th, 2011 - 9:18 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, May 8 (IANS) A day after Jharkhand Governor M.O.H. Farook returned an ordinance linked to the ongoing demolitions, the state cabinet Sunday took up and cleared the proposal to regularise unauthorised buildings.
Now the ordinance will again be sent back to the governor for approval. After his nod, the government will issue a notification on the ordinance.
A special cabinet meeting was convened Sunday evening which was attended by a majority of the ministers, two Deputy Chief Ministers - Sudesh Mahto and Hemant Soren - besides Chief Minister Arjun Munda.
Farook Saturday returned the ordinance to the government, asking it get the cabinet’s clearance.
On the directive of the Jharkhand High Court, a demolition drive is going on in the entire state against unauthorised buildings and encroachment.
The drive is targeting those unauthorised buildings constructed on government land, green areas and which have no sanctioned plans.
The cabinet cleared a rehabilitation policy for those people whose houses are constructed on government land and have been demolished. The below poverty line families will get alternative houses.
