Jewellery shop looted in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Jan 8 (IANS) Four robbers looted Rs.2 million in cash and jewellery worth Rs.1.8 million from a shop in this satellite town of the national capital, the police said Thursday.According to the police, the robbery was committed in a jewellery shop in Shalimar Garden, an upscale market in Ghaziabad.

The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when Rakesh Soni, the proprietor of N.R. Jewellers, was downing shutters.

Four robbers, who came in a Santro car, pushed Soni into the shop and locked it from inside, the police said.

They then decamped with Rs.200,000 cash and jewellery worth about Rs.1.8 million.

Soni informed the police at around 11.30 p.m.
