Javed always had problems with his role, says AkramJanuary 28th, 2009 - 9:52 pm ICT by IANS
New Delhi, Jan 28 (IANS) Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram isn’t surprised at Javed Miandad’s sudden resignation as Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Director General.”Whenever Javed bhai has been given some role, he has had some problems. He has been around in Pakistan cricket for a long while but I think there must be some problems with him,” Akram was quoted as saying by espnstar.com.
The former Pakistan skipper, though said there must be some reason behind Miandad’s resignation as director general of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
“Look, I do not know the reasons yet. I am sure there are reasons behind the resignation. We will all get to know in a couple of days what they are.”
However, the cricketer-turned commentator feels there might be some problems with Miandad.
Akram alleged that the PCB has no potential leader and nobody know what is happening in it.
“The PCB lacks directions now. Nobody has any clue as to what is happening and that is a cause for concern,” he said.
Miandad quit as the director general after a disagreement with the board chairman Ijaz Butt over his role. According to Miandad, the new job description had curtailed the director general’s (DG) role to looking after domestic cricket and development of grounds.
When Miandad was appointed as DG almost two months back, Butt had issued a circular among the senior board officials in which he stated that Miandad would be the number two on the PCB chain of command.
