Japan’s new vehicle sales rose in November
December 1st, 2011 - 4:34 pm ICT by IANSTokyo, Dec 1 (IANS) New vehicle sales in Japan rose by 24.1 percent year-on-year in November, marking the third straight month of increase, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association (JADA) said Thursday.
According to the industry body, sales climbed to 221,048 vehicles in the recording period, following a 28.3 percent rise in October, reported Xinhua.
Sales of cars rose by 23.9 percent in the recording period to 221,048 units, while sales of trucks increased by 25.9 percent to 30,315 units, JADA said. Bus sales also increased 24.5 percent to 873 units, the association noted.
Toyota, not including its high-end Lexus brand, sold the most vehicles at 120,305 units, followed by Nissan at 39,470 units. Honda took the third spot with sales totaling 32,777 units in the recording period, according to JADA’s latest figures.
The three firms increased sales by 25.6, 25.4 and 1.5 percent respectively in November from a month earlier, JADA’s data showed.
In a separate report, the Japan Mini Vehicle Association said Thursday that domestic sales of new small vehicles, with an engine displacement of less than 660 cc, gained 19.1 percent year- on-year in November to 143,331 units. This marks the second straight month of increase, the association said, and follows a 19.9 percent rise logged in October.
