London, Dec 14 (IANS) Pop star Janet Jackson’s boyfriend Jermaine Dupri has taken legal action against a nightclub owner in Georgia for wrongly using his name to publicise an event.According to contactmusic.com, Dupri has filed a suit against Elite Entertainment Group, LLC. The club owners wanted Dupri to host an entertainment event, but his manager turned down the group’s request because the rapper was abroad at that time. But the club went ahead and announced that Dupri would be making an appearance.

Dupri’s staff then contacted the group and asked them to remove his name, but the group’s bosses did not do so.

So, Dupri is now suing the owners and promoters for violating right of publicity, unfair competition, false advertising and unfair and deceptive trade practises under the federal Lanham Act (the US Trademark Act).
