Jamia’s 2,000 volunteers for CWG
July 9th, 2010 - 5:06 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 9 (IANS) The Jamia Millia Islamia university will depute 2,000 student volunteers for the Commonwealth Games (CWG) here Oct 3-14, a statement said Friday.
More than 1,000 National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of the varsity along with 1,000 other students will participate in the event.
They will provide assistance to the Delhi Traffic Police, handle emergency situations and volunteer as tourist guides, the release said.
The ministry of youth affairs and sports has selected the students from the university and has developed a training module for them.
The module is divided into eight sessions comprising comprehensive details on the background of the CWG, heritage of Delhi, workforce operations, accreditation process for different groups, conflict resolution and the importance of communication.
