Jailor shot at, escapes unhurt
July 27th, 2012 - 9:10 pm ICT by IANSPatna, July 27 (IANS) A jail official was shot at by unidentified criminals in the Bihar capital Friday but he escaped unhurt, police said.
Amarjeet Singh of Beur Jail was fired at when he was returning to his residence near the prison. “They tried to kill me but they missed,” Singh said.
Singh told IANS that a notorious gangster or criminals lodged in the jail may be behind the shooting.
“After I raided the cell of some gangsters including Bindu Singh and recovered mobile phones, some inmates warned me to be careful,” he said.
Dozens of mobile phones have been recovered from prisoners in the last few months.
