Jailed ‘drug lord’ wants to make movie with Salman
February 10th, 2009 - 10:09 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS) Sharafat Sheikh, who is known as drug lord and operates the notorious Satte gang that exchanged gunfire with Delhi Police last month, Tuesday said he wanted to make a movie on his life, featuring Bollywood stars like Salman Khan and Jackie Shroff.
“I wanted to make movie on my life,” said Sheikh, whose two-day police remand in the Green Park shootout case ended Tuesday.
“I wanted to cast Salman Khan and Jackie Shroff in the movie,” he added.
Sheikh, lodged in Tihar jail here under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) since 2005, was taken on police remand after his name surfaced in the interrogations of those arrested after the shootout in Green Park of south Delhi Jan 19.
Gang leader Satya Prakash alias Satte and his accomplices Shakeel, Sonu alias Kuldeep and Nadir opened fire at a police team when their car was intercepted in Green Park area.
Their two other accomplices Harpal and Nadir, who had managed to flee in another car, were later that day arrested from a TV news channel studio on the outskirts of the national capital.
According to the police, the six were desperate criminals and were wanted to stand trial in a series of robbery cases in the national capital region (NCR), Rajasthan and Haryana.
There were two modules of the gang - one led by Sheikh and Dabbu alias Charanjeet, also in jail, and the other led by Satte and Bitoo, the police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) H.G.S. Dhaliwal said Bitoo is Dabbu’s brother and the link between them was Sonu alias Kuldip, a trusted man of Sheikh.
The police have also slapped fresh charges of forgery on Sheikh for his connivance with Arjun, an employee of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), to seek parole on forged papers.
Arjun in his interrogation said he in connivance with Harpal and Sonu presented a woman called Omvati as Sheikh’s mother Imamun Nisha in order to get him released on Parole. The gang paid Arjun Rs.35,000 for the job.
