It’s was Bollywood calling for Haldipur brothers

Mumbai, July 10 (IANS) Both were initially happy creating music with their respective musical bands, but then Siddharth and Sangeet Haldipur, sons of music director Amar Haldipur, decided to follow their father’s footsteps and landed in Bollywood.
Although they started their tinsel town journey by composing music for 2009 film “Fruit N Nut”, the composers are now getting recognition for “Aa zara” and “Tujhko bhulaana” in upcoming film “Murder 2″.
“Four-and-a-half-year back we were doing shows with our respective bands, then we started composing together and made a bank of songs. Once we did that we decided to make Vishesh films hear those songs because Mukeshji (Mukesh Bhatt) has a great ear for music and they have a track record of having great songs in their films. So we met Mukeshji and in the very best meeting he loved the songs,” Sangeet told IANS.
“But it was only now, after more than four years later that we got to compose for ‘Murder 2′. It was a great feeling for us,” he added.
Coming from a family where music was a way of life because of their father, who has composed songs for films like “Raja Babu”, “Hulchul”, “Chahat”, “Keemat” and “Ghulam” among others, Sangeet and Siddharth were always inclined towards music. While Sangeet became a part of band “Aasma”, Siddharth was a part of “Band of Boys”.
They have taken the films path in music, but their bands are still active.
“The bands are still active. It’s just that since music has become pop-centric and non-film music is not seen on channels like in the 1990s, so people feel that these bands do not exist anymore. But that’s not true. We keep doing our live shows and we are happy with that. Although we keep hoping that there is a pop revival also so that the bands get impetus again,” explained elder brother Siddharth.
The duo has also composed music for an Indian animation film “Bird Idol” in 2010, but unfortunately the music of the film was not promoted well.
Sangeet feels today so many songs get released in a month that to stand tall among others, it’s important that the songs are promoted well. Something that actor-producer Aamir Khan did for his film “Delhi Belly”.
“I’m so jealous of Ram Sampath (composer) because the songs are getting promoted so well and getting played on TV. For a composer, it means a lot that his songs are reaching out to people. That’s an excellent strategy Aamir Khan has adopted for ‘Delhi Belly’. I think it’s commendable,” revealed Sangeet.
The duo also revealed it was a little tougher for them to get into the industry.
“For us, it’s a little tougher because our father has a very renowned and respectable in the industry. He is associated with very big names and he encompassed a big canvas of work. So there is expectations from us,” said Siddharth.
However, inspite of road blocks, the Haldipur brothers have managed to get good projects including, Jyotin Goel’s “Hum Hain Raahi Car Ke”, Vishesh Films’ next untitled movie and a song album with Jagjit Singh.
