It’s Ganguly’s call on IPL: Buchanan

Kolkata, Jan 3 (IANS) Kolkata Knight Riders coach John Buchanan Saturday put the ball in skipper Soruav Ganguly’s court on the left hander’s continuation in the Indian Premier League (IPL). “Sourav is the best judge. It doesn’t matter whether you are 37 or 27. It depends on the inner call…if you are really interested to play with the same intensity,” Buchanan said in reply to a query whether at 36 plus, Ganguly still could still have the motivation for the IPL.

Asked about the decline in Australia’s fortunes in recent times, the former Aussie coach said the powers-that-be should now make their best efforts to plug the holes in the system.

Buchanan will conduct a three-day selection trial for the KKR Jan 5-7.

“The idea is to shortlist the players who would be ideal for Twenty20 cricket,” Buchanan said.
