ITBP rescues 26 tourists in Sikkim
September 19th, 2011 - 3:23 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 19 (IANS) The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have rescued 26 tourists, including four children, from the Pegong area of Sikkim which was jolted by a 6.8 richter earthquake, an official said Monday.
“The 11th battalion of ITBP has rescued the tourists who include 16 men, six women and four children,” said an official statement.
The powerful earthquake, whose epicentre was on Sikkim-Nepal border region, also hit large parts of northern and eastern India Sunday evening.
