It wouldn’t be ‘wrong decision’ to play four quicks: WACA curator
January 12th, 2012 - 9:34 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Perth, Jan 12 (IANS) WACA ground curator Cameron Sutherland Thursday said it wouldn’t be a “wrong decision” to play four quicks in Perth.
Asked whether Australia should play four fast bowlers in the third Test, Sutherland said: “I’m very coy on selection matters but I don’t think it’s the wrong decision. I think last year (third Ashes Test) proved that if all four bowlers bowl well and bowl to their strengths on here you can play four fast bowlers.”
Sutherland said the wicket will play very similar to last year’s Ashes Test.
“And I think this will play similar to last year, so I don’t think it’s the wrong decision - I think everyone knows India’s weakness is the bouncing ball,” he said.
Sutherland, however, said the wicket would dry out and lose some of its green colour ahead of the start of play Friday.
“It’s not so green today; it’s a 36 degree day today so it’s probably going to lose a little more colour today I would think,” Sutherland said. “It’s probably where we had it last year and everyone said then, ‘gees its green’. It was reasonably green on day one last year and it played really well - its colour is irrelevant if its hard.”
