yuriLas Vegas, Nov.15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Israeli boxer Yuri Foreman created history when he defeated Puerto Rican Daniel Santos on Saturday by an unanimous decision in the WBA super welterweight title fight. The victory was extremely significant for the much acclaimed boxer, as this was the first time that his country Israel has won a major world title.

The undefeated Israeli, who remained in control of the fight almost throughout the game knocked down his opponent in the second round and kept on hitting him in the successive rounds. However, Santos came back at the later part of the fight when he nailed Yuri hard before the bell rang. As the Pueto Rican had not played a game for almost 18 months now, initially the boxer was having a bit of a problem to get in tune with the fight. The 29 year old Israeli took advantage of the situation, gaining control of the fight and in the process making things extremely difficult for Santos.

Interestingly, despite the amazing record of Yuri, the Israeli boxer came into the game as an underdog- given the fact that he had only eight knockouts in 27 matches. As a result, Yuri’s victory came as a surprise to critics and fans alike, as was visible when the crowds at the stadium which comprised of mostly Pueto Rican fans turned quite as the Israeli continued with his scintillating performance.

Yuri Foreman is among the most acclaimed middleweight boxers who began his professional career in the year 2002 and since then has proved himself in a number of fights. Moreover, the boxer also boasts of an amazing record as he remained undefeated in 27 fights.
