Tehran, July 8 (DPA) Iran Tuesday started military manoeuvres in the Gulf following reports that the United States was carrying out exercises on the other side of the Gulf, the website of state television network IRIB reported. The aim of the war games by the air and navy forces of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guards is to improve the strength of its missile and warship units, the report said.

Although Iranian officials doubt there will be an outbreak of war over the nuclear dispute between Iran and the world powers, the Islamic state still says it will remain on high alert and make any aggressor regret its actions.

Despite an upgraded incentive package presented to Tehran by the five United Nations Security Council members states plus Germany, Iran seems not to have accepted the main demand by the world powers which is suspension of uranium enrichment.
