Iran busts drug smuggling racket
May 31st, 2011 - 1:09 am ICT by IANSTehran, May 30 (IANS) Iran’s anti-drug police have busted an international gang involved in smuggling synthetic narcotics and arrested 15 people, Press TV reported Monday.
“More than 270 kg of crystal was confiscated from the gang,” Gen. Hamid-Reza Hosseinabadi, chief of the anti-drug police, was quoted as saying.
The gang produced narcotics in Iran, and then shipped them to Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand in milk consignments, he said.
Hosseinabadi said the drug ring’s network in other countries have also been identified in cooperation with their police counterparts there.
