New Delhi, Sep 12 (IANS) The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has set up a three-member Ethics Commission comprising former Supreme Court and High Court judges.

The judges, however, have not been named.

IOA acting president Vijay Kumar Malhotra informed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Monday that besides the Ethics Commission, an Indian Court of Arbitration for Sports (ICAS) with a panel of eight former judges of the Supreme Court and High Court is already in place.

ICAS will settle all sports related disputes.

Malhotra said that the ICAS has been set up on the lines of Court of Arbitration for Sports of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Malhotra said the IOA, being an autonomous apex sports body functions under the aegis of the IOC and as per the Olympic charter.

“The accounts of IOA are being audited by the CAG for more than a decade. Though IOA is not receiving financial grant from the government for its regular functioning, the sports ministry provides funds to IOA only towards participation of the national teams in the international games, for which proper utilization certificates are submitted to the ministry

“Till now, the CAG has not raised any objection about irregularities. The IOA is strictly maintaining transparency on all financial and accounts matters and uploads the audited accounts in its website every year,” Malhotra said.

The IOA, in compliance with the World Anti-Doping agency (WADA) Code, has established Anti-Doping Commission. This Commission ensures that anti-doping policies and rules are in compliance with the applicable provisions as stipulated by WADA.

Malhotra assured the prime minister that IOA will keep him informed with all its happenings, so that he is not misled or misguided.
