Inter-state vehicle thieves arrested in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Sep 20 (IANS) A gang of automobile thieves that operated in five states was busted with the arrest of three people in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district, the police said Saturday.”Pradeep Kumar, Vikky Singh and Pappu used to operate in Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand,” Mahesh Kumar, Mau district superintendent of police, told IANS on phone.

The three, who were arrested Friday night, used to steal vehicles and sell them by making false documents in various states, he added.

The three were arrested near the Chiraiyakot crossing of Mau district while they were going to finalise a deal, the police said.

The three were operating the racket for the last five years, the police added.

Six vehicles, including two Indica cars, were recovered from their hide-out in Chiraiyakot crossing in Mau, about 250 km from here.
