‘Insecurity has gripped people due to terrorism, inflation’August 28th, 2008 - 8:32 pm ICT by IANS
Bhopal, Aug 28 (IANS) A feeling of insecurity has gripped the people of the country due to increasing terrorism and inflation, L.K. Advani, top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said Thursday even as Congress workers tried to show black flags to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.Advani flagged off the ‘Jan Ashirvad Yatra’ of Chouhan from the temple town of Ujjain. It has the theme of ‘Surakshit Ghar, Vikasit Pradesh’ (Safe house, developed state).
Over 50 Congress workers who attempted to show black flags to Chouhan in protest against his yatra were prevented from doing so and arrested by the police.
Advani said that the Congress, which came to power at the centre promising ‘Congress Ka Haath, Aam Aadmi Ke Saath’ (The hand of the Congress is with the common man), has deceived the people on every front.
“The Congress-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government at the centre has, in fact, deceived the whole country. Due to its misplaced policies, separatism was being encouraged and nationalism was taking a back seat,” he said.
Calling upon the people of the state to support the BJP in the upcoming state polls in November, he urged them to compare the development works done during the 50 years of Congress rule with the five years of BJP rule in the state.
The rally, aimed at launching the party’s election campaign in Madhya Pradesh, will make the people aware about state government’s various public welfare and development-oriented policies.
The yatra will cover 3,000 km covering 36 districts, 115 assembly constituencies and 25 parliamentary constituencies before concluding Oct 2 at Damoh district.
Among others, Madhya Pradesh election incharge Venkaiah Naidu and party general secretary Ananth Kumar were present.
Earlier, Advani inaugurated the Mahakaleshwar Vedic Prashikshan Evam Shoudh Sansthan (Mahakaleshwar Vedic Training and Research Institute) situated in the Mahakal Temple premises.
