Indonesia ship fire kills eight (Lead)
September 28th, 2011 - 10:36 am ICT by IANSJakarta, Sep 28 (IANS) Eight people were killed and over 40 others were injured Wednesday morning when a fire broke out on a passenger ship in Surabaya, Indonesia, Xinhua reported.
The vessel Kirana Sembilan was engulfed in a fire, which started in a truck on board, said Sutrisno, the head of search and rescue office.
The accident took place around 6.00 a.m. when the ship was parked at the port in Surabaya, the capital of East Java province. Hospital officals said 49 people were injured.
