Indo-Arab Society demands action against Israel for Gaza attacks

Mumbai, Jan 16 (IANS) The Indo-Arab Society (IAS) Friday urged the United Nations to take strict action against Israel for continuing to bomb and carry out ground attacks in Gaza despite a ceasefire resolution.In a a statement here expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine, IAS General Secretary Mohib Nasser said the Palestinians have been struggling since over 60 years for liberation and establishing their homeland in the occupied territories.

Their sufferings could end with the establishment of an independent and sovereign state of Palestine, he said. At its meeting here Thursday night, IAS also appealed to Israel to immediately end its attacks on Gaza.

IAS also called upon the world community to impress upon Israel to accept the ceasefire resolution and stop the barbaric bombings and ground attacks immediately, Nasser said.

Condemning the Israeli attacks on Palestinians, IAS pointed out that more than 1,000 people including women and children have been killed and there has been immense loss of property. “This indiscriminate attack is in total violation of human rights and against all international norms of the civilized world,” he said.

IAS also demanded that Israel immediately lift the siege of Gaza and allow entry of human aid and free movement of people in the region.
