New Delhi, Dec 30 (IANS) Model Laxmi Rana wants to ride horses, designer Ritu Kumar hopes to incorporate more of India’s heritage and art in her work and Amanpreet Wahi would love to spend more time with family in the coming year - the fashion fraternity has quite a long list of New Year resolutions.Designer Kavita Bhartia’s resolution is far from material - she wants to get rid of the negativity around her and become a more positive person.

There are quite a few celebrities who believe in making these resolutions and actually sticking to them.

Last year, model Laxmi Rana had resolved to get fitter and she managed to achieve it with a balanced diet and exercise combination.

“This year I want to learn horse riding as this is something I wanted to do for a long time. I’m sure I’ll achieve it,” Rana said.

Acclaimed designer Ritu Kumar has lost oodles of weight, thanks to her last year’s resolution.

“I have lost a lot of weight and it is reflecting for sure. Only I know the effort I had to put in to get into shape. This year, I want to do more research for my work and introduce the world to the hidden treasure of arts, culture and heritage we have,” Ritu told IANS.

Wedding bells are nearing for model and socialite Amanpreet Wahi and she wants to give quality time to her husband-to-be. So her New Year resolution is to cut back on work and assignments.

“I’ve been working since I was out of school. It has been pretty hectic and now, as I’m getting married, I want to give some time to my personal life. The whole idea is to cut back on assignments and focus more on my personal life,” Wahi explained.

Model Esha Gupta’s resolution is more materialistic in nature. She hopes to buy a house for her family within the first six months of the coming year.

Rahul of designer duo Rahul-Gunjan somehow wants to motivate more people to vote in the elections due next year. According to him, people are not utilising their most powerful weapon - their vote - and he is determined to change that.

“I want to create awareness about the importance of voting among my friends as I feel that we are not serious about the sorry state of our nation. We have the power in our hands, yet we are not exercising it properly, so I would like to get this thing into people’s heads so that we become responsible citizens,” Rahul said.

“We have to vote because our leaders who run the country do not deserve to be there. The power is in our hands and we have to decide,” he added.

However, there are many who don’t believe in making New Year resolutions.

“I used to make these resolutions when I was very young but as I matured I realised that you don’t need to wait for New Year to make a resolution. One has to be focussed and determined enough to make his/her dream come true,” designer Ranna Gill told IANS.

“I just wish to have a wonderful and prosperous year ahead of me,” she said.

Similarly, designer Rina Dhaka and Delhi Fashion Week’s consultant Sumeet Nair feel they are bad at keeping resolutions, so they prefer not to make one.

Whether they make a resolution or not, some designers say they just want to improve their work.

“Even though I don’t believe in making resolutions, I would like to focus more on promoting my brand internationally,” said designer Abhishek Dutta.

Alpana of designer duo Alpana and Neeraj said she would like to become more business savvy and churn out more creative designs for her clientele.
