Caldas Novas (Brazil), Nov 23 (IANS) India’s Diptayan Ghosh (under-14 Open) and Bommini Akshya (girls under-8) are joint leaders after fifth round matches in the ongoing World Youth Chess Championship.

Dipatyan drew his match against Fide Master Bellahcene Bilel of France while Akshya got better of teammate Tanishka Koita in the fifth round here Tuesday.

In the under-18 Open category, International Master (IM) Debashish Das was held by Grandmaster (GM) Fedoseev Ladmir of Russia while Nandhidhaa, sole leader after fourth round matches in under-16 Girls’ category, suffered her first defeat in the championship against top seed Ziaziulkina Nastassia of Belarus.

Under-10 leaders Rathanvel and Rakesh Kumar Jena succumbed to defeat against Zhu Yi of China and Li Ruifeng of the US respectively after a rest day.
