Indian women lose in hockey Champions Challenge I
June 25th, 2011 - 3:59 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 25 (IANS) Indian women’s hockey team lost 0-2 to South Africa in the playoffs in the Champions Challenge I tournament at Dublin.
India will now play Azerbaijan for the seventh-eighth position.
South Africa scored once in each half. World record goal scorer Pietie Coetzee converted a penalty corner in the 23rd minute and Lesle-Ann George scored in the 67th minute.
Indian goalkeeper Yogita Bali saved a penalty stroke taken by Coetzee in the 28th minute.
The match was played in wet conditions and India did not get many chances to score.
