Jammu, May 21 (IANS) Indian and Pakistani army officers Wednesday held a flag meeting at a forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector to sort out the issues arising out of the “unprovoked” firing from the Pakistani side Monday. One soldier was killed in the firing.

According to Army sources, officers of the rank of Colonel met at Roshni post in Mendhar sector where the firing had taken place and discussed “in a cordial atmosphere” the situation arising out of Monday’s incident.

The Indian side made it plain that the firing - from across the LoC - was “unprovoked” and it was not possible for it to have taken place without the involvement or knowledge of the Pakistani army.

Even if it is to be presumed that the firing was by militants, it was argued that the loud sounds of rocket launchers and grenade explosions would not have been missed by the Pakistani army. In that case, it was asked, whether the Pakistani army had apprehended any one, the sources said.
