New York, April 17 (IANS) A Guyanese-American man of Indian descent lost his balance on an escalator after watching a baseball game here and fell two stories to his death, the police said. Antonio Nararainsami, 36, had come with his family to watch his favourite team, New York Mets, play against Washington Nationals Tuesday. As they were leaving the stadium at the end of the match, he fell in a section of the stands, landing on the concrete floor.

Nararainsami, who lived in Brooklyn, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Mets held a moment of silence for him before their next game Wednesday.

The police were still investigating the fall.

A relative said Nararainsami was walking down the stationary escalator and was holding the handrail when he “lost his footing”.

A sports lover, Nararainsami was the captain of a local cricket club.

He is survived by two daughters and wife, pregnant with their third child.
