India successfully tests n-capable Prithvi II, Dhanush missiles (Lead)
March 11th, 2011 - 1:02 pm ICT by IANSBalasore, March 11 (IANS) India Friday successfully tested its homegrown nuclear-capable Prithvi II and Dhanush ballistic missiles from different locations in Orissa, a defence official said.
Dhanush, the naval version of the Prithvi missile, was launched at about 10.30 am from a warship that was anchored off the Puri coast.
The Prithvi II was test-fired from complex-3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Balasore district, about 230 kms from state capital Bhubaneswar at about 10.50 am.
“Both were fantastic missions, 100 per cent successful” ITR director S.P. Dash told IANS, adding that the tests were carried out as part of training exercises.
