New Delhi, July 28 (IANS) India and Britain will Thursday sign an understanding on culture - among other pacts - after talks between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his visiting British counterpart David Cameron.
“You will be surprised to know that after all these years we do not have a cultural agreement with the UK. So, for the first time we will have a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in areas of culture that will be signed in New Delhi after the talks,” T.P. Seetharaman, joint secretary (West Europe) in the external affairs ministry, told reporters here.
The MoU will look at “sharing of information, organizing events in each other’s countries, exchange of scholars and organizing seminars, exhibitions and performing events,” he added.
Cameron arrived in Bangalore on Tuesday night on a two-day visit to India. After day-long engagements in the southern city, he will be meeting with the Indian leadership Thursday in New Delhi, where he arrived Wednesday evening.
Delegation level talks between the two prime ministers will be held Thursday evening at Hyderabad House. A joint press conference is also scheduled.
