India beat South Korea 5-3 in Asian Champions hockey
September 6th, 2011 - 6:09 pm ICT by IANSOrdos (China), Sep 6 (IANS) India beat South Korea 5-3 to move to the top of the league table in the inaugural Men’s Champions Trophy here Tuesday.
The goal scorers for India were Rupinder Pal Singh (3rd min penalty stroke), Gurvinder Singh Chandi (4th min), S.V. Sunil (7th min), Rajpal Singh (25th min) and Yuvraj Walmiki (61st min).
Lee Nam Yong (8th and 26th mins) and Nam Hyun Woo (70th min penalty corner) scored for South Korea.
India are the only unbeaten team in the six nation tournament with seven points from two wins and a draw.
In a display of flair and fluency, India fired three goals in the opening seven minutes to completely rattle the nippy Koreans, ranked world number six.
In other matches, Japan beat Asian Games champions Pakistan 3-1 while Malaysia beat China 4-2.
India next play Malaysia Wednesday.
