New Delhi, Jan 14 (IANS) A man threw black ink at yoga guru Baba Ramdev while he was addressing journalists here Saturday. His furious supporters assaulted the man till he bled from his mouth.
“What have I done to deserve this?” said a nonplussed Ramdev, who was speaking on black money and corruption when the stranger decided to target him at the Constitution Club.
In no time, the offender was caught and roughed up by Ramdev’s supporters. He was repeatedly hit on the head and slapped even as a lone uniformed policeman and some security personnel tried to take him away from the mob.
The man’s upper clothes were ripped. In no time, he bled from the mouth.
Ramdev said that he had asked for black money stashed by Indians abroad to be returned to the country. But instead “I got black ink”, he said.
“Those who fight for truth have to pay the price. We are fighting to get black money back to the country? Instead I got black ink… What did I do to deserve this?”
He added that the incident won’t affect his campaign against corruption.
Some Ramdev supporters immediately raised anti-Congress slogans at the site. Congress spokesperson Rashid Ali denied the party was involved. The Bharatiya Janata Party said the attack should be probed.
