Improve railways’ efficiency: Gilani

Islamabad, Dec 21 (IANS) Pakistan Railways should quickly get its locomotives repaired to improve efficiency and transportation of goods in the country, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said.
This was critical for the convenience of the people and also to aid the economy, Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Gilani as saying.
The government in October decided to provide Rs.4 billion to revive the ailing Pakistan Railways. It was pointed out at the time that over the last decade, the railways has received over Rs. 200 billion from the government putting a heavy burden on the exchequer despite the fact that its performance has been deteriorating while causing huge annual losses.
