IIMs gives hope to aggrieved CAT students
December 7th, 2009 - 10:05 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS) The online Common Admission Test (CAT) has been extended by a day to Tuesday but all those students who could not still take it will be provided another chance in a fortnight, the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) said Monday.
“The last date for conducting online CAT has already been extended by a day to Dec 8, 2009. This additional day would allow most candidates, who could not take the test in their scheduled slots, to take the test,” the CAT committee of the IIMs said.
“There are still some candidates who could not take the test due to genuine reasons and the test has not been rescheduled for them. A new test date will be announced in about a fortnight to provide an opportunity to all such candidates to write the test,” they added.
The test conducting firm Prometric would inform all these candidates about the date and the venue.
The first edition of the online CAT was marred by technical glitches creating confusion among thousands of B-school aspirants. CAT 2009 was scheduled to run for 10 days - Nov 28 to Dec 7, 2009 but has been extended by a day to accommodate aggrieved students.
As many as 187,000 candidates have completed the CAT 2009, nine days after the start of the inaugural computer-based version of the test, the US-headquartered Prometric said.
