IIM-Calcutta hikes feesApril 6th, 2008 - 1:45 am ICT by admin
Kolkata, April 5 (IANS) The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) Saturday decided to follow the IIMs at Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kozhikode and hike its fees from the next academic session. The fees will go up from Rs.400,000 to Rs.700,000 for the two-year course starting later this year. The decision was taken at the board of directors’ meeting here.
“This decision to raise fees at the IIMs was unofficially taken on Feb 26,” IIM-C director Shekhar Chaudhuri told IANS.
“The steep fees rise at the IIMs in Ahmedabad and Bangalore is indeed an unpleasant surprise for me as it is a general consensus to keep parity in fees at all the institutes,” he added.
He said the fees at IIM-C were hiked after calculating the costs for building infrastructure, campus expansion and overall growth.
