IGNOU to train Kendriya Vidyalaya teachers
March 14th, 2011 - 9:26 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 14 (IANS) The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan (KVS) Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a national level training programme for KVS teachers.
“There is a need for continued professional development of teachers to meet the demand of quality in education. This initiative will be significant in view of the Right to Education Act,” said Minister of State for Human Resource Development D.Purandeswari.
The target group for the training would include primary teachers, graduate teachers and post-graduate teachers. The teachers would undergo six months’ training, which would include a 15-day face-to-face programme with pre-training assessment and post-training follow-up, feedback and assessment.
“A team of experts would draw up a detailed training design, which would be periodically reviewed. Feedback on the training would be taken for continuously upgrading the quality of the six-month long programme,” said School Education and Literacy Secretary Anshu Vaish.
