IGNOU launches ‘train the trainer’ programme

- New Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS) The journalism school of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) with the Deutche Welle Akademie has launched a two-week programme to help teachers, media professionals and others hone their training skills.
The main aim of the ‘Train the trainer’ (ToT) programme is to build a base of trainers who can then train more people in their respective fields, a statement from the varsity said Thursday.
The programme, which was launched Wednesday, covers subjects such as modern training methods, basics of the learning process, presentation techniques, instruments of communication, needs- assessment and objectives, educational tips and strategies and suggested solutions for conflict situations.
Especially suited for teaching professionals, project management, media trainers, human resources management, logistic providers of media production and management and those in the corporate sector, the programme is a joint effort of IGNOU’s School of Journalism and New Media Studies (SOJNMS) and Germany’s international broadcasters.
Twenty participants from fields as diverse as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, journalists and representatives and academics are attending the programme.
