ICWA to have think tank linkage with Colombo institute

New Delhi, March 9 (IANS) The Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation with the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS), Colombo, at the Sapru House here Friday.

The MOU was signed by S.T. Devare, ICWA director general, and A.W.A. Abeyagoonasekara, executive director of LKIIRSS, in the presence of Sri Lankan High Commissioner Prasad Kariyawasam and invited South Asian delegates to the two-day Asian Relations Conference on ‘Transforming South Asia’ under way here.

The ICWA, a think tank of the Indian foreign ministry, already has similar MoUs with the Nepal Council of World Affairs and the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies in the South Asian region. It has formal institutional linkages with 35 institutes worldwide, ranging from Mexico to China.
